Check out this video - Kelly posted the link on her blog and I thought I would put the video here as well. Straton's life is a powerful example of living obediently and ministering faithfully in the way of Jesus. Listen to some of the questions he raises and think through what it might look like to imitate Straton (as he imitates Jesus) in your own context.
Dying Comfortably

As I write this comment I am struck by my immense comfort. That I even own a computer to make this comment(much less two) makes me richer than half of the world. I sit on one of my four sofa's with my feet resting on a floor covered with two carpets. I dropped off over 10 bags of clothes today at the Goodwill and I still have a dresser full of clothes. I have eaten twice today and I will eat again (probably consuming much more than I need).
ReplyDeleteWhile we admire and honor the rich and famous with countless magazines, Straton walks silently through our world without a second glance. Yet in eternity, when we all sit around and tell stories of God's goodness, I am sure that we will ask Straton to tell his stories again and again. I want his kind of faith.
Me too - I am also struck by his obedient willingness to "show up, be the hands and feet of Jesus, and put his legs into the shoes" of those whom no one else is willing to love and serve.
